భారతదేశంలో ఖనిజ సంపద
             దేశ ఆర్థికాభివృద్ధికి ముఖ్యమైన ప్రాతిపదిక పారిశ్రామికాభివృద్ధి. పారిశ్రామికాభివృద్ధికి అవసరమైన సహజ (ముడి) వనరులే ఖనిజ వనరులు. దేశంలో లభ్యమయ్యే ఖనిజ వనరులను సక్రమంగా వినియోగించుకుంటూ, ముందు తరాలకోసం పరిరక్షిస్తూ సుస్థిరాభివృద్ధిని సాధించడం ఇప్పుడు మనముందున్న పెనుసవాలు.
            ఖనిజాలు అనేవి భూపటలంలో నిర్ణీత రసాయన కూర్పుతో సహజసిద్ధంగా లభించే పదార్థాలు. అంతే కాకుండా భూమిమీద లభ్యమయ్యే సహజ వనరుల్లో ఇవి అతి ముఖ్యమైనవి.
¤    భారతదేశంలో ఖనిజ సంపద అధికంగా ఉన్న రాష్ట్రం - జార్ఖండ్
¤    ఛోటానాగపూర్ పీఠభూమి ప్రాంతాన్ని ఖనిజ సంపద విషయంలో జర్మనీలోని 'రూర్' ప్రాంతంతో పోలుస్తారు. అందుకే దీన్ని 'రూర్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా' అని పిలుస్తారు.
¤    ఖనిజాలను స్థూలంగా నాలుగు రకాలుగా విభ జించవచ్చు. అవి:
1. లోహ ఖనిజాలు : ఇవి రెండు రకాలు.
ఎ) ఫెర్రస్ లోహ ఖనిజాలు :
          ఇనుము, మాంగనీస్, నికెల్, టంగ్‌స్టన్, క్రోమైట్, కోబాల్ట్ మొదలైన ఖనిజాలను 'ఫెర్రస్ లోహ ఖనిజాలు' అంటారు.
బి) నాన్ ఫెర్రస్ లోహ ఖనిజాలు :
          రాగి, జింక్, సీసం, తగరం, అల్యూమినియం, బంగారం, వెండి, ప్లాటినమ్ ఖనిజాలను 'నాన్ ఫెర్రస్ లోహ ఖనిజాలు' అంటారు.
2. అలోహ ఖనిజాలు :
              ఉప్పు, పొటాష్, నైట్రేట్లు, సల్ఫర్, ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్, వజ్రాలు మొదలైనవి.
3. ఇంధన ఖనిజాలు :
              బొగ్గు, పెట్రోలియం, సహజవాయువు
4. అణు ఇంధన ఖనిజాలు :
              యురేనియం, థోరియం, ప్లుటోనియం.
     భారతదేశంలో ఖనిజాల లభ్యత ఆధారంగా వాటిని మూడు రకాలుగా వర్గీకరించవచ్చు. అవి:
1. దేశంలో వినియోగానికి పోను, ఎగుమతి చేయడానికి మిగిలి ఉన్న ఖనిజాలు :
              ఇనుపధాతువు, అభ్రకం, మాంగనీస్, క్రోమైట్, బాక్సైట్, టిటానియం, గ్రానైట్, సిలికా, స్టియోటైట్, మోనోజైట్, బెరీలియం, కయోనైట్ మొదలైనవి.
2. దేశంలో సమృద్ధిగా ఉన్న ఖనిజాలు :
              బొగ్గు, ఫెల్స్‌ప్పార్, అల్యూమినియం, స్లేట్, పాలరాయి, సున్నపురాయి, డోలమైట్, జిప్సం, బైరైటీస్ మొదలైనవి.
3. దేశంలో కొరతగా ఉండి, దిగుమతి చేసుకునే ఖనిజాలు :
              పెట్రోలియం, రాగి, జింక్, సీసం, తగరం, వెండి, నికెల్, గ్రాఫైట్, టంగ్‌స్టన్, రాక్‌సాల్ల్, ఫాస్ఫేట్, పాదరసం, గంధకం మొదలైనవి.
ఖనిజ వనరుల విస్తరణ :
           దేశంలో విస్తరించి ఉన్న ముఖ్యమైన ఖనిజ సంపదను కింద తెలిపిన 8 ప్రధాన మేఖలలు (Belts) గా గుర్తించవచ్చు. అవి:
1. దామోదర్‌లోయ ప్రాంతం :
           ఈ మేఖలలో నేలబొగ్గు, ఇనుపధాతువు, మాంగనీస్, అభ్రకం, డోలమైట్, చైనా క్లే, క్రోమైట్, ఫాస్ఫేట్, బాక్సైట్, రాగి, సున్నపురాయి ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయి.
2. మధ్య భారతదేశం లేదా మధ్యప్రదేశ్-మహారాష్ట్ర మేఖల :
           ఇక్కడ మాంగనీసు, బొగ్గు, సున్నపురాయి, బాక్సైట్ ఇనుము, రాగి, క్రోమైట్ ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయి.
3. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లోని దక్కన్ భూభాగం :
           ఈ ప్రాంతంలో బొగ్గు, అభ్రకం, బైరైటీస్, ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్, డోలమైట్, సున్నపురాయి, గ్రాఫైట్, ఇనుపధాతు నిక్షేపాలు ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయి.
4. కర్ణాటక ప్రాంతం :
           ఈ ప్రాంతంలో బంగారం, ఇనుము, క్రోమైట్, మాంగనీస్, ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్, క్వార్ట్జ్, సిలికా ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయి.
5. తమిళనాడు ప్రాంతం :
           ఇక్కడ బొగ్గు (లిగ్నైట్), సున్నపురాయి, జిప్సం, మాంగనీస్, చైనా క్లే, బాక్సైట్, ఇనుపధాతువు ఉన్నాయి.


6. కేరళ ప్రాంతం :
           బాక్సైట్, ఇనుపధాతువు, గ్రాఫైట్, అభ్రకం, బంగారం, సున్నపురాయి వంటి ఖనిజాలు ఉన్నాయి.
7. మధ్య రాజస్థాన్, గుజరాత్ మేఖల :
           ఈ మేఖలలో రాగి, సీసం, జింక్, వెండి, యురేనియం, బంగారం, డోలమైట్, మాంగనీస్, స్టియటైట్, పాలరాయి, ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్, బొగ్గు, జిప్సం, విలువైన రాళ్లు చాలా ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయి.
8. హిమాలయ ప్రాంతం :
           రాగి, సీసం, జింక్, ఆంటిమొని, నికెల్, కోబాల్ట్, టంగ్‌స్టన్, బంగారం, వెండి, ఇతర విలువైన రాళ్లు లభిస్తున్నాయి.
¤    భారతదేశంలో ఉన్న రాష్ట్రాలన్నింటిలోకి జార్ఖండ్, బీహార్, మధ్యప్రదేశ్, ఒడిషా, పశ్చిమబెంగాల్, రాజస్థాన్, గుజరాత్, మహారాష్ట్ర, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్, కర్ణాటక, తమిళనాడు రాష్ట్రాలు అనేక ఖనిజ నిక్షేపాలకు, వాటి ఉత్పత్తికి చాలా ముఖ్యమైనవి.
¤    దేశంలో ఉన్న ముఖ్యమైన ఖనిజాల విస్తరణ. వాటి ఉత్పత్తుల గురించి వివరాలిలా ఉన్నాయి.
ఇనుప ధాతువు
               ఆసియాలోకెల్లా ఇనుమును అత్యధికంగా ఉత్పత్తి చేసే దేశం భారతదేశం. ఇనుపధాతువులో ఉన్న ఇనుము శాతాన్ని ఆధారంగా చేసుకొని దాన్ని మూడు రకాలుగా విభజించవచ్చు. అవి:
ఎ) హెమటైట్ : 
         దీనిలో 70 శాతం ఇనుము ఉంటుంది.


బి) మాగ్నటైట్ :
         దీనిలో 72.5 శాతం ఇనుము ఉంటుంది. ఇనుప ధాతువుల్లో ఇది అత్యంత నాణ్యమైంది.
సి) లియోనైట్ :
         దీనిలో 35-50 శాతం వరకు ఇనుము ఉంటుంది.
¤    దేశంలో లభ్యమయ్యే ఇనుపధాతువు అత్యంత నాణ్యమైంది. ఇది ఎక్కువగా మాగ్నటైట్ రకానికి చెందింది. ¤    దేశంలో ఇనుపధాతువు నిల్వలు అత్యధికంగా ఉన్న రాష్ట్రం జార్ఖండ్. తరువాత స్థానంలో ఉన్న రాష్ట్రం ఒడిషా.
ఇనుపధాతువు విస్తరణ :
1. జార్ఖండ్ - సింగ్బమ్
2. ఒడిషా - మయూర్‌భంజ్ జిల్లాలోని గురుమహసాని కొండలు, కియోంజార్
3. మధ్యప్రదేశ్ - జబల్‌పూర్, బాల్‌ఘాట్
4. చత్తీస్‌గఢ్ - దుర్గ్, బస్తర్ జిల్లాల్లోని బైలడిల్లా ఇనుప గనులు.
5. తమిళనాడు - సేలం, తిరుచిరాపల్లి
6. కర్ణాటక - కుద్రేముఖ్, కెమ్మంగుడి
7. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ - ఓబుళాపురం - అనంతపురం జిల్లా
మాంగనీసు
           దీన్ని ముఖ్యంగా ఇనుము - ఉక్కు పరిశ్రమ, విద్యుత్ పరిశ్రమ, గ్లాసు పరిశ్రమ, బ్లీచింగ్ పౌడర్, క్రిమిసంహారక మందులను తయారు చేయడంలో ఎక్కువగా ఉపయోగిస్తారు.


¤    దేశంలో ఎక్కువగా మాంగనీసు ఖనిజాన్ని ఉత్పత్తి చేసే రాష్ట్రం - ఒడిషా. తరువాత స్థానంలో మధ్యప్రదేశ్, మహారాష్ట్ర, బీహార్, కర్ణాటక, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ఉన్నాయి.
విస్తరణ :
1. మధ్యప్రదేశ్ - బాల్‌ఘాట్, చింద్వారా, జబల్‌పూర్
2. మహారాష్ట్ర - నాగపూర్, రత్నగిరి జిల్లాలు
3. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ - శ్రీకాకుళం, విజయనగరం, విశాఖపట్నం
4. కర్ణాటక - షిమోగ, చిత్రదుర్గ
బంగారం
          దేశంలో బంగారం ముఖ్యంగా కర్ణాటక, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్, తమిళనాడు, ఒడిషా, బీహార్, ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్, పంజాబ్ రాష్ట్రాల్లో లభ్యమవుతుంది.
¤    దేశంలో బంగారం ఉత్పత్తి మొట్టమొదటిసారిగా జరిగిన ప్రాంతం- ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లోని రామగిరి.
¤    దేశంలో బంగారాన్ని ఎక్కువగా ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తున్న ప్రాంతం - కర్ణాటకలోని కోలార్ బంగారు గనులు.
విస్తరణ :
1. కర్ణాటక - కోలార్, హుట్టి
2. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ - రామగిరి (అనంతపురం జిల్లా), చిత్తూరు.


బాక్సైట్
           ఇది ఎక్కువగా లాటరైట్ శిలల్లో లభ్యమవుతుంది. బాక్సైట్ నిల్వలు ఎక్కువగా ఉన్న రాష్ట్రం మధ్యప్రదేశ్. బాక్సైట్‌ను దిగుమతి చేసుకుంటున్న దేశాలు సౌదీ అరేబియా, ఇటలీ, యునైటెడ్ అరబ్ ఎమరేట్స్.
విస్తరణ :
1. మధ్యప్రదేశ్ - అమరకంఠక్ పీఠభూమి, మైకాల్ పర్వత శ్రేణులు, జబల్‌పూర్‌లోని కట్నీ అనే ప్రాంతం.
2. గుజరాత్ - గల్ఫ్ ఆఫ్ కచ్
3. మహారాష్ట్ర - కోల్హాపూర్
4. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్- విశాఖపట్నం, ఉభయ గోదావరి జిల్లాలు.
అల్యూమినియం
           దీన్ని బాక్సైట్ ఖనిజం నుంచి సంగ్రహిస్తారు. ముఖ్యంగా విమాన నిర్మాణంలో, మోటారు కార్లను తయారు చేయడంలో, విద్యుత్ వాహకంగా, ఇంజినీరింగ్ పరిశ్రమలో దీన్ని విరివిగా ఉపయోగిస్తారు.
రాగి (కాపర్)
           రాగిని ముఖ్యంగా విద్యుత్ పరిశ్రమల్లో, టెలిఫోన్ పరిశ్రమల్లో, మిశ్రమ లోహాల తయారీలో ఉపయోగిస్తారు. దీన్ని ఎక్కువగా ఉత్పత్తి చేసే రాష్ట్రం జార్ఖండ్. రాగి నిల్వలు జార్ఖండ్ రాష్ట్రంలో ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయి. మానవుడు ఉపయోగించిన మొదటి లోహం రాగి.

వెండి
        భారత్‌లో బంగారం, రాగి ఖనిజాలతో కలసి వెండి దొరుకుతుంది. దీన్ని నాణేలుగా, ఫొటోగ్రఫీ పరిశ్రమల్లో, రసాయన పరిశ్రమల్లో ఉపయోగిస్తారు.
విస్తరణ :
1. రాజస్థాన్ - జవార్ గనులు
2. కర్ణాటక - కోలార్ గనులు
3. జార్ఖండ్ సింగ్బమ్, హజీరాబాద్
యశదం (జింక్)
        ఇది ముఖ్యంగా పైరైట్, స్లెట్, డోలమైట్, క్వార్ట్జ్ రాళ్ల నుంచి దొరుకుతుంది. దేశంలో జింక్‌ను ఎక్కువగా ఉత్పత్తి చేసే రాష్ట్రం రాజస్థాన్. జింక్ బ్లెండ్ అనేది రాగి యొక్క ముఖ్యమైన ధాతువు.

1. రాజస్థాన్ - ఉదయపూర్ జిల్లాలోని జవార్ గనులు.
2. ఒడిషా - సుందరఘడ్ జిల్లాలోని సర్గీపల్లి.
సీసం (లెడ్)
           సీసాన్ని ముఖ్యంగా సంగీత సంబంధిత పరికరాలు, విమానాలు, మిశ్రమలోహల తయారీలో, ఆటోమొబైల్ ఇండస్ట్రీస్‌లో ఎక్కువగా ఉపయోగిస్తారు. దేశంలో దీన్ని ఎక్కువగా ఉత్పత్తి చేసే రాష్ట్రం రాజస్థాన్. గెలీనా అనేది దీని ధాతువు.

మైకా (అభ్రకం)
            ప్రపంచంలో భారతదేశం మైకా ఉత్పత్తిలో ప్రథమ స్థానంలో ఉంది. దేశంలో లభ్యమైన మైకా 'మస్కోవైట్' రకానికి చెందింది. మైకా ఉత్పత్తి దేశంలో ఎక్కువగా బీహార్‌లో జరుగుతుంది. ఎలక్ట్రిక్ పరిశ్రమల్లో దీన్ని ఎక్కువగా ఉపయోగిస్తారు.

నికెల్
          ఇది ప్రధానంగా ఒరిస్సా రాష్ట్రంలోని కటక్, మయూర్‌భంజ్ జిల్లాల్లో లభిస్తుంది.
సున్నపురాయి
          సిమెంట్ పరిశ్రమల్లో సున్నపురాయిని ముడి పదార్థంగా ఉపయోగిస్తారు. దీని నిల్వలు ఎక్కువగా ఉన్న రాష్ట్రం మధ్యప్రదేశ్. సిమెంట్ గ్రేడ్ సున్నపురాయి నిక్షేపాలు అధికంగా ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్, తరువాత గుజరాత్, రాజస్థాన్ రాష్ట్రాల్లో లభ్యమవుతున్నాయి.
డోలమైట్
          సున్నపురాయి 45 శాతం కంటే ఎక్కువగా మెగ్నీషియాన్ని కలిగి ఉంటే దాన్ని డోలమైట్ అంటారు. డోలమైట్ నిల్వలు ప్రధానంగా లభించే ప్రాంతం ఒడిషాలోని చిమిత్రాపూర్. అంతే కాకుండా ఇది బీహార్, హిమాచల్ ప్రదేశ్, పంజాబ్ రాష్ట్రాల్లో కూడా లభిస్తుంది.
ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్ (రాతినార)
          వాణిజ్యపరంగా దీన్ని రెండు రకాలుగా విభజించవచ్చు. అవి:


1)  క్రిసోలైట్,
2)  ఆంఫిబోల్
¤    బీహార్, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లలో లభించే ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్ క్రిసోలైట్ రకానికి చెందింది కాగా, కర్ణాటక, రాజస్థాన్‌లలో లభించేది ఆంఫిబోల్ రకానికి చెందింది.
¤    ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్ ఉత్పత్తిలో ప్రథమ స్థానంలో ఉన్న రాష్ట్రాలు రాజస్థాన్, కర్ణాటక, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్.
¤    క్రిసోలైట్ రకానికి చెందిన ఆస్‌బెస్టాస్ దేశంలో ప్రధానంగా కడపజిల్లా పులివెందులలో లభ్యమవుతుంది.

కయోనైట్
          ప్రపంచంలో కయోనైట్ ఉత్పత్తిలో భారతదేశం ప్రథమ స్థానంలో ఉంది. ఇది ప్రధానంగా బీహార్, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్, కర్ణాటక, ఒడిషా, రాజస్థాన్, మహారాష్ట్రలలో లభిస్తుంది.కయోనైట్ ఖనిజం ఎక్కువగా లభించే రాష్ట్రం జార్ఖండ్.
బైరైటీస్ (ముగ్గురాయి)
          బైరైటీస్ నిల్వలు దేశంలో ఎక్కువగా లభ్యమయ్యే ప్రాంతం కడప జిల్లాలోని మంగంపేట.


వజ్రాలు
          వజ్రాలు ఎక్కువగా లభించే ప్రాంతాలు మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌లోని పన్నా, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో అనంతపురం జిల్లాలోని వజ్రకరూర్.
సాధారణ ఉప్పు
          దీని ఉత్పత్తిలో గుజరాత్ ప్రథమ స్థానంలో ఉంది. దీన్నే సోడియం క్లోరైడ్ అనే రసాయన నామంతో పిలుస్తారు.
రాతి ఉప్పు
          రాతిఉప్పును ఎక్కువగా హిమాచల్‌ప్రదేశ్‌లోని మండి, గుజరాత్‌లలో ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తున్నారు. దేశంలో మొత్తం ఉప్పు ఉత్పత్తిలో ప్రథమ స్థానంలో ఉన్న రాష్ట్రం గుజరాత్.
జిప్సం
          జిప్సం ఉత్పత్తిలో రాజస్థాన్, తమిళనాడు, ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్ జిల్లాలు మొదటి మూడు స్థానాల్లో ఉన్నాయి. దీన్ని సిమెంట్ తయారీలో, ఎరువుల తయారీలో ఉపయోగిస్తారు.
